Six Inexpensive Ways To Customise Your Car

Blog

Many people love the idea of having a car that's truly their own—but custom paint jobs are expensive and having your dash remodelled is impractical for many drivers. If you'd like to add the personal touch without spending a lot, however, there are a few things you can do that will help you feel right at home inside your vehicle.

  1. A fragrance you truly love. Scent is incredibly evocative, but for some reason a lot of conventional car fragrances are less than pleasant. Rather than limiting yourself to tacky conventional car air fresheners, why not make your own? A mesh bag filled with your favourite dried herb and a few drops of essential oil looks much better, smells far nicer and can be hung in all the same places.
  2. Custom seat covers that really feel 'you'. Getting your car reupholstered can be expensive—but it's much more affordable to buy a set of seat covers, and they come in practically any finish you could want. Many companies will now offer custom-fit seat covers, meaning that no matter which kind of car you have you'll be able to find one that works.
  3. Pedals that are off the beaten track. Did you know that you can have your car's driving pedals replaced? They come in pretty much any colour or pattern you can think of, and they look fantastic once they're in. Just be sure to have this done professionally rather than trying to go DIY—if they aren't installed correctly, you could end up in serious danger.
  4. Your very own gear stick knob. Plenty of garages and car customisation companies offer a wide range of new knobs for your gear stick. Popular options include knobs that reflect a favourite hobby, knobs covered in sparkling crystals and knobs covered in thick-stitched leather—there really is something for everyone.
  5. Hydrographic printing to cover your dash. Few people can afford the price of a completely customised dashboard—but several companies are now offering printed stickers cut to size that cover it perfectly. These look amazing and come in a huge range of finishes and styles.
  6. Door and hood decals to give it your own touch. Custom paint jobs are expensive, but exterior automobile decals aren't—and if you ever want to change them, you can just peel them off and buy new ones!

Whatever you choose, it's important to remember that safety has to come first; if you decide to add some ornaments to your rear-view mirror, for example, you need to be positive they aren't going to fly off and cause a potentially dangerous situation!

Tips on Choosing Car Seat Covers

Hi, my name is Scott and I’m an amateur mechanic. I don’t have a lot of spare cash so I recently bought a used car, which I’m fixing up myself with some help from a friend. I know that it’ll take some time to get things just the way I like them; I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I want my car to run well and look good. A few weeks ago, I started looking at car seat covers. I thought that this would be one of the easier jobs I had on my car but I hadn’t realised how many options there were to choose from! It took a bit of research, but I’ve now chosen some custom covers that I should be fitting soon. I started this site to hopefully help other car lovers who are looking for auto accessories.
