Differences Between Single and Dual Exhaust Mufflers

Blog

You may be looking for a new muffler for your car system. This could be to upgrade the current muffler or to replace your damaged muffler system. If you are new to mufflers then you will find yourself facing the choice between a single exhaust or dual exhaust muffler. Here are a few of the differences between single and dual exhaust systems that you should consider before you make your final choice:

Type of Vehicle

The first difference between a single and dual exhaust muffler will depend on your vehicle. Keep in mind, most vehicles will use a single exhaust option. This is because most cars will only need a single exhaust system, therefore they only need a single exhaust muffler. If you have a larger car or industrial vehicle then a dual muffler would be necessary. If you have purchased a dual exhaust option for your car, you may need to check with your mechanic to determine if it will actually work for your car and if changes need to be made to the muffler before installation.

Pricing

Single exhaust mufflers are generally cheaper than their dual exhaust counterparts. This is not just due to the the number of exhaust ports. The horsepower expansion that the muffler provides can make a large difference in the price. Keep in mind a dual exhaust is usually for high-performance vehicles or industrial vehicles. These vehicles need the higher levels of horsepower that the dual exhaust offers. This makes them more costly than the common single exhaust used in most vehicles that do not necessarily increase performance but rather maintain it.

Dual Exhaust Replacement

The key point to keep in mind with a dual exhaust replacement is that they replace the existing exhaust manifold. The tubes used in the dual exhaust system are non-restrictive. This means that the exhaust is fed directly into the tailpipe. This flow of exhaust helps to increase performance in the vehicle and increase the horsepower. A single exhaust system does not replace anything in the car and simply helps to filter the exhaust out of the system.

When you are ready to buy your muffler, contact your local mechanic. If you have already purchased the muffler, they can help you with installation. If you have not purchased the muffler, they can help you with the best option as well as pricing and installation. If you have any further questions or if you have a specific muffler issue, ask your mechanic for their suggestions.

Tips on Choosing Car Seat Covers

Hi, my name is Scott and I’m an amateur mechanic. I don’t have a lot of spare cash so I recently bought a used car, which I’m fixing up myself with some help from a friend. I know that it’ll take some time to get things just the way I like them; I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I want my car to run well and look good. A few weeks ago, I started looking at car seat covers. I thought that this would be one of the easier jobs I had on my car but I hadn’t realised how many options there were to choose from! It took a bit of research, but I’ve now chosen some custom covers that I should be fitting soon. I started this site to hopefully help other car lovers who are looking for auto accessories.
